Slalom – the pivot door of Alias

THE PIVOT SECURITY DOOR, ALIAS STYLE

Slalom is the innovative technical entrance door with roto-translating hinge by Alias. A first, for which the company’s in-house research and development department obtained two unitary certifications*. This is a solution that allows for superior performance, including in terms of clear opening width and smoothness of use. Designed for large openings and prestigious residential environments, for the architect it represents not only a secure closure, but a true architectural element. Internally it can be configured in a flush or flush-to-wall version, and the handles both inside and out are made to an exclusive design by Architect Ivo Pellēgri for Alias.

Slalom overcomes several limitations with other products currently on the market:

• its unique movement system maximises the clear opening width compared to standard pivot solutions by keeping the centre of rotation at a fixed and particularly short distance from the upright (thus the clear opening width is not compromised by a bulky door pivot point);

• minimises the problem of the gap created on the hinge side during opening: the reduction of this gap avoids safety hazards, effectively preventing people or animals from accidentally getting caught inside when the door is in motion;

• the undulating profile of the door eliminates the risk of shearing when in motion;

• provides better thermal insulation (1.2 W/m2K), sound proofing (40 dB) and wind resistance (C2).

The ideal measurements for optimal product performance are 1200 mm wide by 3000 mm high, but it is possible to extend them up to 1500 mm wide by 4000 mm high.
